2020: A Year of Focus

It is that time of year again where we reflect on the past year and think about the year to come. This upcoming year feels different though. We are truly venturing into a new decade! Of course, we had before but now we are about to experience the new 20’s and all the joys and challenges that may come.

As I reflect upon this upcoming new year and my goals moving forward, I realize this year will require focus and a bit more discipline than before. My new resolutions, or let’s call them intentions as that is always a tricky word, require that I grow as an educator, writer, author, professional. I already have some projects underway and am happy to announce my debut novel book launch (as you’ll see in the below flyer and if you’re in the NYC area, stop on by!). However, to truly grow I would need to practice my craft more and seek opportunities that push me. I will make those steps this coming year.

I will write more because, in order to get better at anything, you must practice, practice, practice. I will read more because reading informs writing and I shouldn’t simply save pleasure reading for the summer. It should be enjoyed year-round, even when I feel a tad stressed from work. I will engage in more learning opportunities. As an educator, aspiring leader and role model for my students; you never stop learning. By actively seeking more professional development, training and participating in events meant to hone my craft; I believe I can accomplish this.

This new year will be great. I speak it into existence. What are your goals for 2020?

That’s a good mentality to have as well at the end of the day. I’ve always been a planner so lists and goals help a lot haha!

Thanks, I thought of playing on the ‘vision’ theme for 2020 and thought ‘focus’ was just the right word for this year!
